Wälischmiller received in Japan the Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Contribution

In November 2015, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers granted Wälischmiller Engineering the Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Contribution for its long term contribution in the development of remote handling equipment for nuclear fuel recycling facilities.

The award committee, the division 8 Power & Energy Systems, praised the continuous engagement of Wälischmiller Engineering in the development of remote handling technology and presented, how HWM delivered the first manipulators to JAEA (CPF-Facility) in the seventies and then developped further manipulators, which were and will be successfully used in Rokkasho. The equipment is praised for its reliability and its elegant mechanical design. Also mentioned positively is that HWM push continuously new developments like the A1000S robotic arm or the double arm TELBOT®. The JSME hopes that the competences of Wälischmiller Engineering in remote handling technology will also be used in decommissioning works at Fukushima.

The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers is a research community made out of universities, companies and government institutions. Its purpose is the exchange of technical information and knowledge. JSME is a dynamic pioneer in new scientific and engineering ideas and activities. The community offers interdisciplinary meetings to engineers and researchers.
