LIROB, the in-line robot when things get tight

A New Approach to Automating Hot Cells

With our new LIROB, you can now automate processes and thus save time and costs. The robot is installed in an 8“ wall duct and can thus replace a mechanical manipulator. With a load capacity of up to 10 kg (20 kg peak load), it can easily handle heavy and unwieldy objects.

Revolutionizing Robotics for Harsh Environments: Advanced Automation for Nuclear Waste Management and Medical Applications

Our mission is to redefine robotics in extreme environments by creating a system tailored for nuclear waste management, nuclear medicine, and research facilities. This innovative robotic solution automates essential processes, significantly reducing both time and operational costs.

Designed to fit seamlessly within standard wall openings of 160 mm to 254 mm, our LIROB can replace traditional mechanical manipulators through its streamlined, in-line design and precision bevel gears, ensuring reliable force transmission. With a load capacity of at least10 kg and peak handling up to 20 kg, it’s engineered to effortlessly manage heavy and awkward objects in hot cells. Even overhead work - impossible for traditional mechanical manipulators is easy with the LIROB.

Built on HWM's proven expertise in radiation-resistant robotics, this robust design combines durability with advanced functionality. Featuring an intuitive programming interface powered by TELBOT® control software, our system offers operators easy control and efficient task execution, making it the ideal choice for high-demand environments.

Easy handling

LIROB is user-friendly and easy to operate. With just a few steps, you can programme the robot to perform the desired tasks. You can control the robot with joysticks or the touch panel and thus do your work from anywhere.

Minimum effort

Another great advantage of our LIROB that it relieves the operator from physical strain and fatigue. Since the robot can handle heavy loads of 20kg with ease, the operator no longer has to do the tedious work that is otherwise often associated with high physical strain. Repetitive movements, which can lead to fatigue and injuries, are also avoided by using the robot. This makes the working environment safer and more comfortable for the operator. The robot takes over the physically demanding work and allows the operator to concentrate on more important tasks, such as monitoring the processes and analysing the results.

Work more efficiently and safely

By using LIROB, you can not only increase productivity, but also improve the health and safety of your employees. Thanks to the LIROB, you can work more efficiently and safely, saving time and money. We are sure that you will be satisfied with our product and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Versatile and Resilient Robotics for High-Radiation Environments: Precision Control with LIROB

The LIROB robotic system features an advanced inline electrical joint design that is suitable for port installation, allowing for seamless integration into demanding environments. With seven degrees of freedom, it offers an extended range of motion, making it versatile and highly adaptable. Its radiation resistance of up to 1MGy total lifetime dose ensures durability even in high-radiation settings.

The robot’s gripper can be remotely exchanged, providing flexibility for various tasks without manual intervention. Its modular joint design allows for robust, maintenance-free operation and simplifies replacement when needed. LIROB supports both automated and manual operation, which can be configured in either joint mode or Cartesian mode to suit different application requirements. A booting is covering the joint units to prevent contamination of the joints.

The user-friendly interface enables straightforward operability, while advanced task automation programming includes features such as self-collision avoidance, and teach-and-repeat functions for efficiency. Integrated with a digital twin, LIROB can be controlled through virtual reality, enhancing simulation and operational accuracy. Additionally, remote control capabilities allow operators to manage LIROB from a secure area, significantly reducing physical strain and fatigue for operators.
